DAY CAMP DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES
The staff agrees to guide a child to learn
self-control as evidenced in appropriate behavior through the
following methods.
1.
Giving guidance in appropriate behavior while at the Center
and by being consistent in expectations of the children.
2.
Providing recreation and activities that allow all children
to feel a part of the group.
3.
Insisting that children respect the property of others, at
the Center and on field trips.
4.
Insisting that children obey the bus rules.
5.
Promoting pro-social behavior by modeling patience,
understanding, courtesy, kindness, helpfulness, and compassion.
6.
By setting reasonable limits.
7.
By use of appropriate hugs.
8.
By guidance, teaching children what to do rather than what
not to do.
9.
By understanding developmental stages and temperaments of the
child.
10.
By expecting honest information exchange between parent and
teacher concerning the child’s behavior at home and at the Center.
11.
By teaching problem solving skills for conflict resolution.
12.
By suspending children that throw rocks or sticks, for
fighting, or for deliberate lies that threaten the safety of others.
13.
Under no circumstances will physical punishment be
administered by the Center.
