Jeremy Phillips When You Believe In God But Pursue Happiness At Any Cost 2 Matthew 7:7-11 3 The Dangerous Pursuit of Happiness  While it is true that God wants to bless you and has great plans for you, it is not true to believe that God's ultimate plan for you is happiness.  4 Let's consider the true message of the Bible concerning happiness. First, God doesn’t want us to be happy when it causes us to do something wrong or unwise.  In God's plan, the end never justifies the means. 5 A Second Biblical Principle Concerning Happiness God also doesn’t want us to be happy when our happiness is based on the things of this world. Matthew 6:19-21 6 A Phony Formula   A False Equation:  Better Possessions +  Peaceful Circumstances + The Right   Relationships + The Perfect Appearance = Happiness 7 The Final Principle of Godly Happiness God doesn’t want us to be happy because God wants us to be blessed.  God wants us to be more than happy. Matthew 5:5-10 8 "We will never discover lasting happiness in the temporary things of this world.  That's why we should lower our expectations of this place.  Earth is not heaven.  It was never meant to be.  That's why no amount of money, new house, new furniture, new clothes, new hair, new baby, new vacation, new job, new income, new wife, or new anything will ever satisfy us because we were not made for the things of this world.
