An Overview of the Committees of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church

   
   
 Accounting Committee is to insure that sound procedures are instituted for receiving, counting, depositing, recording, disbursing, and reporting gifts to the church.  This committee is to work with the treasurer, the financial secretary, and the Counting Committee to insure that financial procedures are followed and changes are made in a timely manner.
   
 Activities Committee is to assist the minister of recreation in enlisting all volunteer recreational activity leaders and coaches and in maintaining records and the taking of an annual inventory of equipment.  They shall have charge over all recreational activities for all age groups (crafts, physical fitness, social events, sports, etc.).
   
   
Baptismal Committee shall assist the candidates and the ministers in the administration of the ordinance of baptism. 
   
Benevolence Committee/Brotherhood Pantry shall be the investigating and distributing agency of the church in response to the needy.  They shall work with other benevolent groups in the church and shall survey and determine available community agencies and other churches in the community
   
   
Children's Church Committee is responsible for providing and conducting Children's Church for ages four and five during morning worship service(s).
   
Committee-on-Committees

will nominate replacements for those members who rotate off committees each year. 

   
   
Flower Committee shall have oversight concerning flower arrangements in the church and the purchase of decorations for special holidays. 
   
Funeral Food Committee shall arrange for food provisions as needed in the event of the death of a church member or a member's immediate family. 
   
   
History Committee shall provide the church library with an updated historical document of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.  This document shall be presented to the church at the end of each church year.
   
Hospitality Committee shall endeavor, as far as possible, to make everyone who enters the doors of our church facility feel welcome.  Their responsibilities shall include registering visitors and guests during Sunday School and directing them to the appropriate class.
   
   
House and Grounds Committee

Committee shall assess maintenance needs of the property and analyze, prioritize, and prepare an annual budget request.  This committee shall coordinate maintenance and repairs.

   
Insurance Committee

Committee shall recommend adequate insurance coverage for all church buildings, properties, and activities.

   
   
Keenager Committee

shall develop and maintain ministries to senior adults with such events as monthly meetings, trips, conferences, mission activities, projects in the community, and senior adult choir. 

   
Kitchen Committee shall see that the kitchen is adequately equipped and maintained as well as make an annual inventory of kitchen equipment.
   
   
Lord's Supper Committee shall prepare the Lord's Supper and clean up afterward. 
   
Missions Committee shall lead the church in supporting the denominational missions program.  They shall study possibilities of undertaking mission projects and shall make reports and recommendations. 
   
   
Nominating Committee shall make nominations for church officers, Sunday School, and Discipleship Training workers.
   
Personnel Committee assists the pastor and the church in matters related to personnel administration and management.  Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, presenting prospective ministerial staff members (other than pastor), and other employees of the church.  This committee also has responsibility for handling grievances, discipline, and terminations.  In addition it shall develop job descriptions and shall update them in light of changing situations, duties, and other factors. 
   
   
Publicity Committee shall bring publicity recommendations such as newspaper and radio ads to the church for approval.   
   
Purchasing Committee

examines all submitted purchase orders and considers them for approval based on the availability of funds. 

   
Scholarship Fund Committee

Committee shall establish and maintain policies for the administration of the scholarship funds available for students attending colleges, seminaries, or Bible institutes with the intention of entering full time Christian service.  It shall evaluate requests and make recommendations to the church. 

   
   
Special Events Committee

shall plan and coordinate church anniversaries, staff anniversaries, and receptions for special guests. 

   
Stewardship Education Committee is to develop an understanding of and commitment to Biblical concepts of stewardship.  This committee has the responsibility of informing all church members of the Biblical concept of total stewardship, the mission of the church, and the work of the Cooperative Program in the Southern Baptist Convention. 
   
Transportation Committee shall be responsible for providing transportation for those who are unable to attend unless this ministry is provided. 
   
Van Committee shall establish procedures and policies by which the van program will operate and to supervise the use, operation, and maintenance of the transportation vehicles.  It shall make recommendations of policies for the use of the vans by church groups.  It shall also recommend to the church the purchase of vans as needed.
