The information below is intended to explain the HTML Email that is sent to MGBC subscribers for the various publications that are emailed.  This is general info only for reference purposes.

Our HTML Email is sent by using a program that uses a variety of templates and other features.

What is HTML email?   HTML email is graphical email made possible with HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) coding. HTML is the basic language of the web. Most pages on the web is coded using HTML. All graphical email is done through HTML.

What is an embedded image?

An embedded image is integrated within the email message. An email message with embedded images has a significantly larger message size as compared to an email message with referenced images. Not all email clients can read emails with embedded images.

What is a referenced image?

A referenced image is an image pulled from the URL or Internet location of the image in an HTML document. When the message is received, the HTML gathers any images using the URLs of the images and then the images are displayed in the email. (All of this happens in less than a second!) As a result, an email message with referenced images has a significantly reduced message size and higher compatibility with email clients.

Below is a tabular list of mail clients that support HTML-enabled email. To verify your ability to receive HTML-enabled email, locate your mail client below.  If you use one of the email clients listed and that support HTML email and you only see text you may have 'text' enabled and not HTML email enabled.

You can view the text part of your message, but not the graphics, what is the problem?

There are three possibilities:

You might not be online when viewing the file

Our server may be temporarily down,

You do not have an HTML mail client or have HTML mail enabled.

Keep in mind that every message is transmitted accurately. You will at least receive the text portion of the email and over 90% current users will receive the message and graphics in the same format as it was sent.

There are a few circumstances where the graphics that  will not appear.

The graphics themselves may be stripped away when the message recipient is using an older version of AOL, or has their incoming email screened by certain types of corporate firewalls. In any case, the text message  will arrive intact.

Is there any script code in the eMail messages?

No!    The use of JavaScript, VBScript, and all other scripting technologies, have specifically  been avoided and there are no executable attachments or ActiveX controls in any HTML eMails.

Programming Technology Used in our HTML eMail is Secure.

The program that we use to send HTML eMail was carefully designed to provide no opportunities for outside access to the host computer while using the program.  We have specifically avoided the use of JavaScript, VBScript, and all other scripting technologies, and we use no executable attachments or ActiveX controls. Not only does this make our HTML eMail secure, it makes your messages compact and minimizes the technology requirements on the your end. No special plug-ins are required — just a standard HTML-capable email client.

Is there a security feature in the product to guard against viruses from infecting the mail messages?

Yes.  Our HTML eMail does have security settings to protect the host computer from potentially harmful content.  When a new mail is created, our HTML eMail program scans the template before creating new mail and issues a warning if it detects the possibility of the template having a virus

    Printing Emails

I have no problems printing any of the HTML eMail templates. Why do some recipients have problems with messages that contain background colors and images?

When our HTML eMail program was  installed on the host computer, the setup program made sure that the print setting was correctly set in IE. This setting ensures that "Print background colors and images" has been enabled in your Internet Explorer browser. To verify whether this option has been enabled, select the Tools | Internet Options menu option, and click on the Advanced tab. You will find this option under Printing.   You may want to check and see if this setting is enabled on your computer.
