Lena was a lifelong resident of Pensacola. She was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Elbie J. Wales, Sr. the former owner of E.J.'s Flower Shop.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son and all her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, E. J. and Mary Wales; a granddaughter Monica and Matt Markham; two great grandchildren, Cody and Madeline Markham; two sisters-in-law Emma Jane Graham and Elsie Ward; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday July 22, 2003 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Reverends Alton Butler and Mike Collins officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1:00 - 2:30 P.M. Tuesday.
