Theodore "Ted" Vincent, 73 of Pensacola,
passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2008.
Ted was born in Jackson, MS, and grew up in
Philadelphia, MS. He joined the U.S. Air
Force out of High School, where he completed
four years of active service before
converting to the U. S. Navy, where he
completed 22 years of honorable military
service.
Ted was an accomplished athlete in the U.S.
Navy as a fast pitch soft ball pitcher,
leading his teams to numerous championships
and pitching three perfect games in his
career.
He was an active member of the Fleet Reserve
Association serving as President and
Vice-President for several terms.
Ted was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist
Church in East Pensacola where he worked
with preschool church training and boys
mission training.
He is
survived by his wife, Gracie Vincent; three
sons, Allen Vincent of Phoenix, AZ, Albert
J. Barlow and wife Betty J. of Montgomery,
AL, and Ronald Barlow and wife Fern; three
daughters, Jerri Lynn Ruff and husband Mark
of Phoenix, AZ, Martha Townsend and husband
Brent of Pensacola, FL, and Feleena Houston
and husband Robert of Pensacola, FL; three
brothers, Hugh Vincent of Austin TX, Richard
Vincent of California and Oscar Vincent of
Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Mary S. of
Bessemer, AL; 12 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 pm
Wednesday, March 19, 2008, with a memorial
service at 6:00 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
