Guy H. Skipper,Sr.,
81, of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2005.
Mr. Skipper was active for many years in Youth Baseball. He retired from
utilities construction and was the co-founder of G.H. Skipper, Inc.with
his son and partner. He always said his achievements in life were
because of hard work and determination. And said anyone can do anything
they wish with the same. He loved fishing, the Atlanta Braves, and
watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play
T-ball, baseball, football, and softball. He was a long-time member of
Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Skipper is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vileta Skipper;
children, Guy H. Skipper, Jr., (Lynn), Twila Petersen ( Pete), Dianne
Peacock, and Wanda Hebert (Phillip); brother, James Skipper; two
sisters, Cora B. Gavin, and Margie Butler; grandchildren, Reagan Reeves,
Kelly and Mark Petersen, Guy and Jay Peacock, Deirdre Zadrozny, Shellie
Whatley, Clint Ratchford, Guy (Skip) Skipper, III, and Evan Skipper; 10
great-grandchildren, Erin and Tyler Reeves, Paul, James and Jincie
Zadrozny, Treay and Hunter Whatley, Marlin Peacock, Fisher and Cadence
Peacock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at
Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Dr. Alton Butler and Dr.
Dale Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in
Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Covenant Hospice.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Amos Prevatt and
his staff and to Covenant Hospice and staff.
