Assurance Supervisor (NAS) died Sept. 30. 2003 at Hospice in His Hands, in
Durant, Mississippi. Funeral
services will be Saturday. October 4, 2003 at 2:00 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral
Home with Brother Ron Pouliot officiating.
Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial
Gardens.
Mr. Roper was born August 21, 1909 in
Copperhill, TN. to Lavora Mabrayer and John Washington Roper. He attended
school in Birmingham and moved to Pensacola in 1940. He retired from the
Naval Air Station after 37 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years,
Pauline Harris Roper; son, Henry R. Roper (Barbara) of Atlanta, Ga.;
daughters, Gayle R. Chandler (Drew) of Kosciusko, MS and Peggy R. Cooper
(Michael) of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was also survived by five
grandchildren, Dr. Mart Chandler of Birmingham, AL., Kimberly C. Wilson,
Dr. John Chandler both of Hattiesburg, MS., Summer Hutchinson of
Pensacola; great grandchildren, Andee Kelly of Hattiesburg, MS; Lauren and
Ryan Chandler of Birmingham, AL and Brianna Hutchinson of Pensacola.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Lin Robb, Ron Thompson and the men of his
Sunday school class of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of
