Robert Curtis
Nabors, 87, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away
peacefully Friday morning in an Irving, Texas,
hospice center after a very short battle with
cancer.
Mr. Nabors was born on December 21, 1920, in Dargin,
Shelby County, AL, a son of H.B. "Game" Nabors and
Betty Kirby Nabors.
He resided in
Pensacola, FL, for approximately 40 years and most
recently in Arlington, Texas.
He was a
member of the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
He was a
proud member of the 509th Composite Group during the
Second World War, the group that dropped the atomic
bomb on Hiroshima.
He loved Purple
Martin birds and built many birdhouses to give all
birds shelter.
Mr. Nabors was preceded in death by his wife of 51
years, Doris Rose Sharp Nabors.
Mr. Nabors was
also preceded in death by his parents and 21
brothers and sisters.
Mr. Nabors is survived by his son, Robert (Bobby)
Nabors of Arlington, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday,
March 3, 2008 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral
Home, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola and interment
will follow.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 pm
until service time on Monday.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to
the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite
504, North Charleston, SC 29406 in memory of Robert
C. Nabors.
