Patrick G. McCann 1942-2011
The Reverend Patrick G. McCann celebrated his home going in the early
morning hours of December 5, 2011. He followed his much loved wife, Maurleen
who passed away on March 1, 2010. His last days were spent in Covenant
Hospice at West Florida in the same room that his wife had been in some 21
months earlier. Pat McCann was born on March 19, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to
Raymond McCann and Betty Jane Gonstead. He served in the US Navy for 22
years. After his service years he served his Lord Jesus Christ in music and
teaching ministries. He was a teacher and faithful member of Myrtle Grove
Baptist Church.
Patrick McCann, Sr. is survived by his three loving children, Dixie Simonson of
Littleton CO, Patrick McCann Jr. of Pensacola (residing with his Dad since March
2010) and Christine McCann-Gillis of Romeoville IL. They were at his bedside at
the time of his passing. Six grandchildren also survived their beloved
grandfather, Matthew Gillis, II and Megan Gillis of Romeoville, IL, Dylan
Simonson of Littleton, CO, Michael McCann, Madison McCann and Katelyn
McCann of Wilmington, IL. Patrick McCann is predeceased by two brothers,
Donald "Tyke" Ogden and John Ogden. His surviving brother, Jerry Ogden lives
in Swayzee, IN. He is further survived by two brother-in-laws Everitt McMullin of
Commerce City, CO and Victor McMullin of Cheyenne, WY. For the past six
years his niece, Tammie and her husband, Ron Miller have been his care givers.
Visitation will be held 5-7pm Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Harper-Morris
Memorial Chapel located at 12th and Airport. The Funeral Service will be held
11:30am Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with
Pastor Ron Lentine officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National
Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th
Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
Pat lived in the promise of eternal life in Jesus and today he celebrates that life to
the Praise of his Lord.
