On March 27, 2009 our loving
husband and father left us to be with his Lord.
Moffatt Grier MacKendree was
born to W.T. MacKendree and Elizabeth Estes MacKendree on August 27,
1923 in North Augusta, South Carolina.
Moffatt was a true Christian man in every sense of the word
.He was the leader of our family
as well as a leader in the community and an active, longtime member of
Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
He served our country through his youth serving in both the Navy and the
Army. He fought in WWII along side his brothers and served our country
again in the Korean War.
After retiring
from the military Moffatt was employed for 20 years with Ed Whites Men's
clothing store before retiring.
Moffatt is survived by his loving wife, Betty Scott Hamilton MacKendree,
his loving children, Steven Grier (Mary), Michael Dewayne (Tammy), Jan
MacKendree Nicholson (Chuck), Phillip Edward (Debbie), Ross Hamilton Jr.
(Jenney), and Janie Hamilton Nellums (Wayne), his 13 grandchildren, and
7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Olease Hanks MacKendree,
and his seven brothers and sisters. He is also leaving his true
companion P.J.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors,
nurses, and staff at Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital and to all of our
Special Friends
We will love and miss you always.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to Myrtle
Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oaklawn
Funeral Home Pensacola, Florida. Services on Tuesday March 31, 2009 10
a.m. at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with burial immediately following at
Barrancas National Cemetery Pensacola, Florida |
