Thomas Linwood
Lambert, III was born December 5, 1946 to Thomas Linwood Lambert, Jr.
and Mary Frances East Lambert in Newport, Rhode Island.
Tom went to be
with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May 2, 2009, after a courageous
battle with cancer.
He was a member of
Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Jenkins Lambert; brothers, Douglas
(Frances) Heath of Winston-Salem, NC and Michael Lambert of Spartanburg,
SC; sister, Tanis Plemons of Tellico Plains, TN; daughter, Julie (Brad)
Johnson, Bonifay; son, Michael (Kristy) Brooks, Cantonment, FL;
granddaughters, Kristen and Casey Johnson and Kayla Brooks to whom he
was affectionately known as PawPaw Tommy; parents-in-law, Archie and
Darlene Jenkins; brother-in-law, David (Laurie) Jenkins; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Tom loved to cook and share his creations with friends and family.
He was
mechanically inclined and generous with his talents, often helping
others.
He also enjoyed
gardening, chess and a lively debate. A soft-spoken, gentle man with a
warm smile and quick sense of humor, Tom loved his family and will be
remembered with love as a good friend and golf buddy.
The family gratefully acknowledges the dedicated compassionate care
given to Tom by Dr. Eldaway, the nurses and the entire staff at Sacred
Heart Medical Oncology Group and the Sacred Heart Hospital 2nd floor St.
Catherine staff.
We deeply
appreciate Erin Bowers, Palliative Care Manager at Sacred Heart who
provided invaluable assistance in the preparation of Tom's Advance
Directive Documents and for the counsel and advice regarding the
difficult decisions we faced.
Her love for the
Lord shined through as she ministered to Tom and our family. A heartfelt
thank you to everyone at Covenant Hospice residence for making Tom's
last days comfortable in a beautiful peaceful setting.
Donations may be made in Tom's name to the Joyce Goldenberg Covenant
