1922 - 2006
Earl Knowles, 84, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 after a short illness.
Mr. Knowles was born June 3, 1922 in Flomaton, Alabama to Levy and Norma
Knowles.
He was a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Earl served
several times as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts in Pensacola.
He retired from
NARF at Pensacola NAS in 1977.
Mr. Knowles was an
active member at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. He served on many
committees, taught teenagers in Sunday School, served as a deacon and
enjoyed many wonderful
times with the Keenagers.
Known as Dad and Paw-Paw he
enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren with handyman jobs and
car repairs. He was a terrific
gardener and shared his harvest with friends and family. He will be
missed by all those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pauline on March 23rd of
this year.
He is survived by his sons David (Nora), Kenneth (Joanne) and Philip
(Irene) Knowles; grandchildren Nick, Courtney, Bethany, Michael, Holly
(Eric), Cindy, and Karen; great-grandchildren Jordan and Emma; brother
Cecil Knowles of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law Joyce Knowles of Holt,
FL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Butler officiating. The
family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will
follow in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Nick, Michael, Bobby and Andy Knowles, Eric Lightkep,
and Mike Merritt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Homestead
Village and Covenant Hospice workers for all their wonderful care.
