| James (Jim) Whitney died on Thursday, August 9, 2001
after a five month battle with Leukemia.
Mr. Whitney, a native of San Antonio, Texas, had resided in Pensacola for the
past 34 years. He retired from the Public Works Department at NAS Pensacola as a
Management Analyst. He served two years in the United States Navy during World
War II.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Whitney, of Pensacola, Florida;
one son, Michael Stephen Whitney (and his wife, Jane) of McDavid, Florida; one
daughter, Kathleen Boggs (and her husband, Marcus), of Colorado Springs,
Colorado; and three grandchildren, Shelley, Brian, and Mason Boggs.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2001 in Myrtle
Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Ron Lentine and Dr. Alton Butler,
officiating.
Burial will be held in Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Mickey Whitney, Marcus Boggs; grandsons, Brian and
Marcus Boggs, Lenton Watson, Art Brigham, and Robert Horne.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 12, 2001 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
at the funeral home.
