Clarita Talley Gillis, 89, of Fairhope, Alabama, died, Thursday, December 04, 2008.

Mrs. Gillis was born December 18, 1918 in Jefferson County, Alabama to Thomas Watson Talley and
Lora Taylor Talley.

 Prior to moving to Fairhope, Mrs. Gillis had been a long time resident of Pensacola and a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gillis retired from teaching in 1973 after 30 years of service.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading and quilting.

In 2007, Mrs. Gillis' husband of 65 years, John W. Gillis, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, John Talley Gillis and his wife Cheryl of West Point, MS; daughter,
Lorice Gillis Kahlbau and husband Wayne of Fairhope, AL; sister, Sara Dykes of Brooks, GA; 6
grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 07, 2008 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with her grandson, Reverend Heath H. Kahlbau, officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kevin W. Gillis, Will F. Kahlbau, Blake Herman, Wil Scarbrough, Walter Gillis,
and Keith Gunter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Les Thomasson, Benji Gunter, and Joe Gillis.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
