| Mrs. Louise Pinney "Grannie" Gandy, 87 of Pensacola, died
Monday, December 31, 2001, in a local hospital. Mrs. Gandy was born
December 16, 1914 in Chapman, AL to Annie and Benjamin Barnes and had
resided in Pensacola for most of her life. She was a member of Myrtle
Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gandy is survived by one sister, Helen McKeown, of Mobile, AL,
three daughters, Bobbie Godwin of Gulf Breeze, FL, Dorsey Blue, Bennie Jo
Toth and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Pinney, all of Pensacola, FL, 14
grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and
many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gandy, known affectionately as "Grannie" by students and staff,
was employed by the Escambia County School District for many years,
serving as Dietician/Cafeteria Manager from 1945-1985 when she retired.
She was President of the Escambia County Food Service Association for
eight separate terms. "Grannie" lived for and was loved by all.
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple..."
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at Oak
Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola. Her grandson, Minister Christopher Pinney
of Gulf Breeze Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will follow in
Myrtle Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jim Pinney, Greg Pinney,
Jerry Pinney, Jonathan Pinney, Christopher Pinney and Alex Pinney.
OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to
services on Wednesday.
