William "Bill" Dykes

William Ancel Dykes, age 92, passed away on August 18, 2009.

 Mr. Dykes was born March 28, 1917 in Sneads, FL, the son of the late Jepp and Molly Dykes.

He was raised in Sneads, FL along with 12 brothers and sisters.

He married the late Iris Lynell Davis Dykes, of Tallahassee, FL, on July 4, 1941 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage.

 He and his wife relocated to Pensacola, FL in 1946 where they raised their family.

 He was a long time member and Deacon of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church and a Pensacola resident for 59 years before recently relocating to Milton, FL.

He was a veteran of World War II and a past president of the Florida Rural Letter Carriers Association.


He is survived by his two loving sons, Clifford (Deborah) of Okatie, SC and Michael (Linda) of Milton, FL; seven grandchildren, Mellodi (David) Vann of St. Pete, FL, Dawn (Chris) Walters of Milton, FL, Meredith (Ralph) Stowell of San Diego, CA, Amanda Dykes of Duluth, GA, Alex Bonine of Cedar Rapids, IA, Iris (Ray) Harper of Milton, FL and Nicole Bonine of Elon, NC; and six great-grandchildren, Trevor Walters, Brett Walters, Dillon Vann, Judson Vann, Will Stowell, and Connor Stowell; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Pine Forest Road.

 Reverend Carl Gallups of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church will be officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


PENSACOLA MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
