James
Alva Dennis Jr., 78, of Pensacola,
FL passed away on Friday, July 20,
2007.
James was born in Lynchburg, South
Carolina on March 10, 1929 and has
lived in Pensacola for the last 60
years.
He joined the Navy in 1946 at
the end of WWII and was stationed at
Pensacola Naval Air Station.
He then
worked at Pensacola Naval Air Rework
Facility in Federal Civil Service
for 28 years before retiring.
James
was an avid golfer and enjoyed
fishing.
He coached baseball at
Myrtle Grove Community Center in the
60's and was the Florida State
Director for Dixie Boys Baseball
during the 70's.
He is survived by his son, Michael
Dennis and wife Susan from
Horseshoe, NC; daughter, Paula Van
Trigt and husband Pete from Los
Alamitos, CA, daughter, Dorothy
Dennis from Clearwater, FL,
daughter, Susan Pavlock and husband
Michael from Bradenton, FL; his
grand-children, Sherry Dennis from
Horseshoe, NC, Jason Dennis and wife
Shana from Helena, AL, Paige &
Priscilla Van Trigt from Los
Alamitos, CA, Sarah Pavlock from
Bradenton, FL; his
great-grandchildren, Olivia and
Zachary Dennis from Helena, AL; his
brother, Patrick Dennis and wife
Myrtle Ann from Charleston, SC, his
sister, Marion McCaskill and husband
Mack from Lugoff, SC and his
sister-in-law, Nina Smith and
husband John from Bishopville, SC.
The family welcomes friends to a
reception/tribute on Friday, July
27th between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm at
Mustin Beach Officer's Club,
Pensacola Naval Air Station.
Private funeral services will be
held at Barrancas National Cemetery,
Pensacola Naval Air Station with Dr.
Alton Butler officiating.
