Mickey L. Copeland, age 69, who resided in Pensacola, Florida, passed
away from this life on October 25, 2006.
He was born in Shallow Water, Texas on September 15, 1937.
Mickey has battled for several years with ailments surrounding a
serious heart condition.
He is one of three sons born of Kelly and Bonnie Springer who have
preceded him in death along with his grandparents, John Bunyon Springer
and Rebecca (Bec) Springer and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brown Copeland, all
of whom resided in Arkansas also his brother Al Copeland preceded him in
death earlier this month.
He graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego, CA, and also
attended college in Oklahoma City.
He sustained critical injuries while serving in the United States
Army in the 60's.
He taught 11 year olds Sunday School in Oklahoma City at the Village
Baptist Church and was a current member of Olive Baptist Church in
Pensacola.
Mickey was very successful in the Automobile Business in Oklahoma
City prior to his health deterioration after which he medically retired.
He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 24 years Linda. He
leaves three daughters, Traci Lynn Tackett (husband Rick), Michelle
Swinson (husband Michael), Tracey Lynn Matthews (husband Mark), and
three sons John David Copeland, Sonny Copeland and Robert Gregory
Anderson (wife Gina).
He has two brothers Kelly and Jay Copeland, all from Texas. He leaves
eight grandchildren, Matthew, Mallory, Chelsey, Torey, Shelby, Tanner,
Madison and Jackson, two great-grandchild Sidney and Parker; he also
leaves aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.
A celebration of his life service will be held at noon, on Monday,
October 30, 2006 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment. The body
will lie in state from 11:00 until 12:00 at the funeral home preceding
the service. Dr. Ted Traylor and Reverend Ronald Adams will be
officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the Barrancas
National Cemetery in Pensacola. Honor Guard services will be provided by
the United States Army.
Serving, as pallbearers will be Harold Gebhard, Charley Wultzer, Bob
Conrad, Matthew Flow, Mark Matthews and Leon Malishan.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tanner Matthews and Jackson
Anderson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm. until
6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2006.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some stay for a while
and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. This is
true of my love
Mickey.
But we have faith in the fact that we will soon be reunited.
