On Sunday,
April 4, 2010, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather, left us to be with the Lord.
Buford Howard "Pop" Cook was born to Howard and Molly Mack Cook on April
7, 1921 in Elba, Alabama.
Buford loved the Lord, his family, and his many friends.
He was
member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church for 18 years and was presently a
member of Immanuel Baptist
Church in Pace, Florida.
He served
his country in the Army during World War II. On November 27, 1944, he
was wounded in France and received a Purple Heart.
Buford was
employed for 25 years with Commercial Carrier Trucking Company, of
Auburndale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Frances
Jacobs Cook; his sister, Mary; his daughter, Norma Brooks Odom; and
great-grandson, Hayden Joseph Dean Ikerd.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Edna Gillis Brooks Cook; his
children, Sharon Cook Ikerd, Billy Cook (Beth), Brenda Cook Ikerd
(Jimmy), Ruth Brooks Cook (Robert), Gary Brooks (Sandra); 14
grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. today, Wednesday, April 7,
2010 at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pensacola
Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Adam Ikerd, Justin Brooks, Shane Cook, David
Odom, Kyle Brooks, Robbie Cook, Gary Brooks, Jr., and Bill Odom, Jr..
