Hobert Glenn Browning, 76,
went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 10,
2008. He was born in Portsmouth, OH on May 30, 1932
and had been a resident of Pensacola for over 44
years.
He was a member of Myrtle
Grove Baptist Church since 1972.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marianne
Browning; 2 infant sons and his parents, Hosie R.
and Essie M. Browning.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lorna Rose
Browning, two daughters, Julie Cardillo (Regis) of
VA, Elizabeth (Lisa) Browning of KY; son, Robert
Glenn Browning of Pensacola; brother Harold R.
Browning of OH; sister, Christine Browning of
Pensacola; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Tawna, John,
Christian, Stephanie and Julia; numerous nieces,
nephews, relatives and hundreds of friends.
He graduated from the University of Nebraska, was in
the US Airforce and was a Korean War veteran.
After moving to Pensacola
he worked with his father building Dolly Madison,
Hostess Cakes and Orowheat Bread Franchise.
He had a great love of
sports, golf, baseball and football. He loved
coaching games for his son and then his grandsons.
This passion led to the birth of "Glenn's Sporting
Goods" store.
He had a love for life, his faith and his church. He
was active in the Brotherhood, Sunday school and
served as a deacon.
He was the best and
happiest when he was cooking breakfast for the
church.
The family will receive friends for visitation from
5-8:00pm Wednesday, October 15th at Oak Lawn Funeral
Home.
The funeral service will
take place 9:30am Thursday, October 16, 2008 at
Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow
at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ivan
Sarver, Norman Allen, Ron Lowe, Otey Infinger,
Robert Smith and Neil Thorsen.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that
donations be made in Glenn's memory to the Myrtle
Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, Gideon's
International, The American Cancer Society or the
charity of your choice.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is
entrusted with the arrangements.
