Lavonne Brigham,
age 81, of Pensacola passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2005.
Mrs. Brigham was born and raised in Pensacola where she graduated from
Pensacola High School. Lavonne spent 20 years faithfully following her
US Navy husband around the world and returned to Pensacola in 1958 where
they have lived and raised their children. She was an active member of
Myrtle Grove Baptist Church where her passion was her Sunday School
class. She retired from Sears after 25 years of employment. Mrs. Brigham
was also a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and served as the President
of the Pensacola West Camp. Her friends, relatives and especially her
children will sorely miss her many talents such as ceramics, crocheting,
knitting, quilting, painting and sewing. Her talent that will be missed
the most is her cooking. Her culinary talents were renowned.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thaddeus "Papa Slim" and Anna
Comerford. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Arthur Brigham;
three sons, Ronald Brigham (and wife Cindy), Robert Brigham (and wife
Regina) and Thad Brigham (and wife Bethina); one brother, James L.
Comerford (and wife Jackie); one sister, Sybil Stevens (and husband
Harry M "Steve"); 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and many
loved nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and
will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2005 at Oak
Lawn Funeral Home with Dr. Alton Butler and Reverend Ron Lentine
officiating.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.
Visitation was held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral
home.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made in her name to Covenant Hospice
5041 North 12th Ave. Pensacola, Florida 32504, Gideon's International,
Pensacola West Camp, P O Box 3669, Pensacola, Florida 32516 or to the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 8382 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, Florida
32256.
