Arthur L.
Brigham, age 84, of Pensacola passed away Tuesday,
February 26, 2008.
Mr. Brigham or Art as friends called him was born in
Hancock, New York where he was raised and attended
school.
Art
joined the US Navy in January 1941 and served
honorably until February 1961.
Mr. Brigham
retired as an Avionics Technician Chief and used
those skills to maintain and repair tracking radar
systems at Eglin AFB for over 25 more years.
Art
was married for 64 loving years to LaVonne, the love
of his life, who passed away in August of 2005.
He was a
devoted husband and they together raised three sons.
Art was an
active member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church for
more than forty years.
Mr. Brigham
was a member of Gideons International and served in
Pensacola's West Camp.
His
friends, relatives and sons will miss him dearly.
His dedication to his family, country and church was
his keystone.
He was most
proud of his US Navy service and his accomplishments
in the Navy that carried him through the remainder
of his life.
His loving and devoted wife LaVonne; and his
parents, Ernest J. Brigham and Eva Maines Brigham,
preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald Brigham (and wife
Cindy), Robert Brigham (and wife Regina), and Thad
Brigham (and wife Bethina); sisters Bea, Beryle and
Mary; 11 grandchildren, 18 great -grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews. Art was greatly respected,
deeply loved and admired by his family, friends and
all who knew him and they will miss him.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon, Monday, March
3, 2008 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with the Reverend
Ron Lentine and Dr. Alton Butler officiating.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 5
to 7 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made in his
name to Gideons International, Pensacola West Camp,
PO Box 3669, Pensacola Florida, 32516 or to Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation, 8382 Bay Meadows Road,
Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
