| Russell D. Bechtel, 91, died Sunday July 13, 2003 in
Milton Florida, formally from Indianapolis. Mr. Bechtel was born September
18, 1911 in Odon, Indiana. Mr. Bechtel attended Dana High School, Purdue
University, and was Deputy Sheriff of Daviess County. Mr. Bechtel served
in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the Army as a Major. He
worked for Social Security Administration for 30 years, retiring September
18, 1966. Mr. Bechtel was active in Scottish Rites, was a Mason, a member
of the Elk's Lodge and National Sojourmers for many years. After
retiring and moving to Pensacola, Mr. Bechtel started a workshop and
designed and held a patent on a fiberglass bowling ramp for Cerebral Palsy
victims.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughter, Nona; six
grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild;
step-daughter, Teresa (Anthony) Ferguson; step- son Tim (Patty) Sedler;
five step grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2003 with Rev.
Wesley Syfrett officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to
the service at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway.
