With
his family by his side, I. D. received
his wings Monday, August 16, 2010.
I.
D. was born in Baker, grew up in Munson,
and later moved to Pensacola.
He
retired after 48 years in the Electrical
Industry.
He
was an avid outdoors man who loved to
fish, hunt, and camp with his family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving
wife of 25 years, Evelyn (Malone)
Atkins; brothers, Elmer (Doyle) and
Genie (Jerry); two sisters, Vonnie
Barnes and Marion Walker; and
brother-in-law, Bill Coogle.
He is survived by his daughters, Beverly
(Michael) Smegelski, Patricia (Matt,
III) Carter, and Kathy (Major Oliver)
Kahler; seven grandchildren, Amanda
Williamson, Justin and Mitchell
Smegelski, Evangalyn and Matt, IV (Lucy)
Carter, Paige (Enock) Kahler-Placide;
two great-grandchildren, Kalyn and
MacKenzie Carter; sisters, Ila Mae
Coogle, and Charlotte (Marlon) Bass;
brothers, Atharay, Monk "Autis" (Edna
Belle) Atkins, and Bernie (Dorothty)
Atkins, as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral service for I. D. Atkins will
begin at 5:00PM, Thursday, August 19,
2010 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton
Chapel with Rev. Alton Nixon,
officiating.
Family will receive friends from 4:00pm
to 5:00pm prior to service.
