Elizabeth Davis Askew, age 91,
of Pensacola passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006.
Mrs. Askew was born on May 14, 1914 in Geneva County, AL, the daughter
of Ira Porter Davis and Lula
Franklin Davis. Elizabeth graduated from Troy State University and
taught first and second grades in
Geneva County, AL and Bay County, FL. She had been a resident of Panama
City, FL for 48 years prior to moving to Pensacola in 1998 to be near
her oldest daughter. She was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church and
had previously been a member of First Baptist Church of Parker near
Panama City.
"Lib" always saw the best in people and was an endless source of
encouragement. Her faith in and love for Jesus was evident in everything
she did. Her life will be celebrated by her family here and her loved
ones welcoming her to her heavenly home.
Mrs. Askew was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Askew, and was the
surviving member of her peer generation in both the Askew and Davis
families.
Survivors include her two daughters, Tannie Addy (and husband Henry) of
Pensacola and Eva Houser (and husband Rick) of Charleston, SC; her
grandchildren, Henry Addy III (Jamie), Lt. Jacob Addy, Davis Addy, and
Sara Houser; and one great grandson, Henry Addy IV. Elizabeth was a
source of joy to countless nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, January 30, 2006 at
Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, FL.
OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
