Life Signs: Contemporary without Compromise

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the
joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the
right hand of the Throne of God.
Where do you look for help or solutions from your problems? Several years ago, Pastor Ron
explained how to keep our problems smaller than we tend to make them out to be. Here is an
exercise for you to do. Pick a place on your wall (preferably high up) and look at it. Now,
outstretch your arms and wave your hands. When you keep your eyes on the wall, you will see
your hands waving with your peripheral vision. Now, take your eyes off of the wall and look at
your hands. Can you see the spot that you picked out on the wall?
What’s the meaning of that exercise? The spot on your wall is a metaphor for Jesus.
When we keep our eyes on Him, our problems (waving hands) can still be seen; they just aren’t
as big as we thought they were. If we take our eyes off of Jesus and keep dwelling on our
problems (staring at our hands), we cannot see Jesus. Jesus ends up being in our peripheral
vision. As Christians, that should not be. So, who should we look for answers?

their own outcomes.

them.

April Fools?
This is the month of April and many of us can think of different April Fool’s jokes or pranks
probably easier than we would think. Everyone, Christians, are probably familiar with Psalm
14:1. This seems to be very fitting for this specific date!
